Mackinac Island can be explored in many different ways. We chose to take a Sip and Cruise, walk down main street in the pouring rain, and ride our bikes through the interior of the island. The cruise took us under the Mackinaw bridge and offered drinks, entertainment, and a beautiful sunset Our bicycle tour of the island took us to the airport, cemetery, and so much more. No matter how you choose to explore the island, if you get the chance, stop by Mackinac Island for an adventure you won’t soon forget.
Since we stayed the night on the island (I did not have my kitchen with me!) I had to plan ahead for food. We planned to eat dinner at the 1852 Grill Room at the Island House Hotel, a fine dining restaurant I knew I would be safe eating at. But what about the other meals?
I brought a cooler of food with me: egg salad, gluten-free bread, veggies and ranch, peanuts and dark chocolate, a salad and dressing, and pre-cooked oatmeal for breakfast. Thanks to lots of ice refills, the food lasted all the way through our bike tour of the island. When you’re gluten and dairy-free, this is how you roll!
